Before joining the Nigerian Foreign Service in 1982. He served as a teacher at Ogori-Magongo Teachers College, Okene LGA Kogi State and worked for one year as a Local Government Inspector in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Plateau State. He retired from the Nigerian Foreign Service in June 2012 as a Director after thirty years of dedicated unbroken diplomatic service to the nation, which took him across Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia during which he learnt on the job both spoken and written Portuguese; a student of Professor Ibrahim Gambari with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from, Zaria (1980).
Before retirement, he had the privilege of contributing positively towards the Ministry’s successful conduct of administrative, political and consular duties both at Headquarters and at Nigeria’s Missions in Maputo; Mozambique; Brasilia; Brazil; Tokyo; Japan and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Believing and advocating the centrality of Africa in Nigeria’s Foreign Policy Objectives, he found fulfilment and served longest on African desk spanning over ten years, of which the last four and half years were on the African Union Desk at Headquarter sand he rounded up at the Nigerian Embassy and Permanent Mission of Nigeria at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he retired in June2012. During these years, he had a global perspective of the African Union; comprehensive coverage and objective analysis of African politics, governance, peace and security, socio-economic development programs and African integration through the Regional Economic Communities, which greatly enhanced his positive contributions to policy initiatives towards the achievement of Nigeria’s Afro-Centric Foreign Policy Objectives.
